2026 HBCU ENGAGE Conference:
Dr. Emmanuel Atta-Obeng represented Coppin State University at HBCU ENGAGE, joining the HBCU-ASPIRE Initiative session, Best Practices for Building Research Capacity: A National Model, to spotlight early momentum from an NSF-supported effort strengthening research infrastructure and innovation across four HBCU institutions.

In conversation with an outstanding panel Dorothy Daley (Kentucky State University), Jayanta Das (Florida Memorial University), Tommie Yvette Turner, Ph.D. (Harris Stowe State University), and Freddie E. Wills, Jr., Ph.D. (Harris Stowe State University) the session showcased practical, scalable strategies that elevate institutional research readiness, expand funding competitiveness, and accelerate high-impact research and workforce outcomes.

2026 HBCU CHIPS Conference (Atlanta, GA):
Drs. Emmanuel Atta-Obeng and Jude Namanga represented Coppin State University's advancements in sustainable materials research. Undergraduate Godwill Tewan presented a poster on the “Green Synthesis of Pectin-Stabilized ZnO Nanocomposites for Photocatalysis,” highlighting an eco-friendly method for improved ZnO nanoparticles and demonstrating photocatalytic dye degradation for wastewater treatment.
